Writing and making comics

One of my major aims is to write and make comics on my own in the limited time I have (Usually 1 day at the weekend if anything).

At current, I might whack out a sketch on a weekend to make sure I can still draw somewhat. I've researched all the quick ways to do things - 24hr comics, working at 6x8 etc.

However - I have a crippling ability to actually write a comic. I tried teaming up with people in the past - and it didn't really work. Rather than collaborate, guys would pretty much ditch what we were working on after 2/3 days and suddenly deliver to me a full 24 page script saying "This is much better".

Anyways - I decided to open up my writing folder and try get back at it - only to see the last modified - 12 Aug 2012.

Man - its been 23 Months since I last thought about trying to sit down and do this.

Maybe I should just accept I am a really bad writer and go at it. At least I'll achieve something.

Something that has changed in the last 2 years - my life is much more advanced. I've worked in a lot more places, seen a lot more things, been married for 3 years now and been a father for a whole 10 weeks!

I read that Peter Parker is 25 in comics now - which blows my mind. When I stopped reading Spider-Man in 2006, I was 19 and still could read his stories as someone who's life was more "advanced" than mine. Now its kind of weird to think, I've moved past his position in life and my thoughts are more on things I never grew up reading.

I think I have some interesting ideas. Whether I'll execute them well is another matter.

I wrote how producing comics as commercial art basically was a by-product of good project management techniques a couple weeks back. I think I need to apply them to help me get something produced.
